In the Blink of an Eye: Creating a Powerful Road Rage PSA for Utah

Some stories are meant to entertain. Others are meant to make us stop, think, and hopefully make a different choice. This project was one of those stories.

Savvy Productions had the opportunity to partner with our friends at Penna Powers to bring an emotional Public Service Announcement to life—one designed to remind every Utahn that road rage isn't just a bad moment behind the wheel. In the blink of an eye, it can change lives forever. It's a message that's simple, but incredibly important.

Every day, thousands of people travel Utah's roads on their way to work, school, sporting events, vacations, or home to their families. Most trips end exactly as expected. But all it takes is one moment of anger, one impulsive decision, or one act of aggression for everything to change. That powerful truth became the heart of this commercial.

Bringing an Important Story to Life

One of the things we love most about video production is the opportunity to tell stories that matter. It was about helping audiences feel the weight of a decision before they're ever faced with making it themselves. To tell that story, we filmed in several dramatically different locations across Utah, each representing another chapter in the consequences of road rage.

Inside a prison, we captured the reality that one reckless decision can affect a person's future for years to come.

At a Salt Lake City Green screen studio, we created scenes that allowed the creative vision to come together in ways that simply wouldn't have been possible on location. Green screen technology gave us the flexibility to carefully craft several of the commercial's most impactful moments while keeping the focus exactly where it belonged—on the story. There we filmed the actor in a vehicle with the giant green screen behind them. Later we placed driving footage behind the actor.

We also filmed an emotional funeral scene inside a church, reminding viewers that road rage doesn't just affect the people behind the wheel. Families, friends, coworkers, and entire communities can be forever changed by a split-second decision.

Each location represented a different consequence.

Together, they told one unforgettable story.

More Than a Commercial

Public service announcements are different from traditional advertising. Success isn't measured by selling a product. It's measured by changing behavior. If this video encourages even one person to take a deep breath instead of reacting with anger behind the wheel, then every hour spent planning, filming, editing, and refining the project was worth it. That's one of the reasons projects like this mean so much to our team. As a Utah video production company, we have the opportunity to work on all kinds of productions—from television commercials and corporate videos to documentaries and training films. But creating work that has the potential to make our communities a little safer is especially meaningful.

The Power of Teamwork

Productions like this don't happen because of one person. They happen because talented people come together with a shared purpose. A huge thank you to the creative team at Penna Powers for trusting Savvy Productions to help bring their vision to life. It's always awesome collaborating with people who care deeply about telling stories that leave a lasting impact. From the actors and crew to everyone working behind the scenes, every person played a role in creating a commercial that we hope audiences will remember long after the screen goes dark.

A Message Worth Sharing

Road rage can happen to anyone. We've all experienced traffic jams, missed turns, distracted drivers, or frustrating moments behind the wheel. The difference is how we respond. Sometimes the safest thing we can do is simply pause, take a breath, and remember that getting home safely is far more important than winning an argument with a stranger we'll probably never see again.

We hope this PSA encourages conversations, changes perspectives, and reminds all of us to choose patience over anger. Because when we're driving, every decision matters. Every family matters. Every life matters. Drive safe, Utah. Together, we can create safer roads—one choice at a time.
